Most women (and men!) do not need to be convinced about the attributes of wearing jewellery. Jewellery is a highly fashionable accessory that can add extra charm and elegance to a woman’s beauty. Apart from giving you confidence, jewellery can set you apart from others and turn an ordinary outfit into a head-turner.
Women of today want to have an exclusive look with pieces of jewellery and this has given rise to the concept of “Designer Jewellery”. Now designers craft customized styles of jewellery for individuals keeping in mind their client's taste, style, and preferences.
Design and quality of jewellery defines an individual’s taste, personality and style. We all know that women greatly differ in the way they wear jewellery. Some prefer to be discreet while others love to be flamboyant with statement pieces.
Whatever style you have and though trends change with the changing times, good quality jewellery holds good even withstanding the test of time.
How many times have we purchased that special outfit only to then realize that we now need the jewellery to match? Or how many of us have bought the necklace of our dreams, yet cannot find the earrings to match? It’s for times like these that you need to consider commissioning a piece of jewellery.
The designer will need to have some idea of the style you have in mind. I say ‘some idea’ because many clients of mine have only a vague notion of their preferences, leaving me quite nervous about it all!
Have you ever realized how many decisions are made in order to make a piece of jewellery? Here are just a few of the considerations:
Which type of materials to use? Pearls, stones, glass, metals or a combination?
Chunky or delicate?
Single or double layers?
Gold or silver components?
Plated or sterling silver?
Type of clasps or ear hooks?
Overall style? Or leave this to the designer!
Many designers will offer suggestions and may provide you with photos of ‘draft’ designs before completion of pieces. If new materials have to be ordered, I ask for a small deposit, but complete payment is only fulfilled when the customer is happy with the finished product.
